Say Welcome to Helles – Unfiltered Lager Beer

It’s no secret we love lager: we operate a state-of-the-art Brewhouse, complete with a lactic acid propagation plant (traditional German method of adjusting acidity) to produce beers with balance, nuance and depth of character. In 2021 we are excited to add our first new core beer since 2017, a soft, bready and floral version of an unfiltered Helles at 4.4% ABV. At just over 4 years old we feel it is a natural progression to add an easy-drinking and clean lager to our stable, to stand alongside our flagship beer, Keller Pils – Hop Bitter Lager Beer. We are proud to debut this beer and amazing branding which was developed by our original creative team – Annie Clements (Co-founder and…

#thankyoubeers

We want to show our support to all key workers in Bristol over the coming weeks by way of #thankyoubeers for teams to enjoy, offering what we can to help make things as bright as they can be for folk working to keep us safe and healthy through these difficult times. Simply put: Email your team’s details to thankyoubeers@lostandgrounded.co.uk. Please include details of your company/service provider, contact name and telephone number, how many in the team. There will be a daily #thankyoubeers draw Mon-Fri. The lucky team who’s name gets drawn will have beers delivered the next day for them to share. All entrants who haven’t been picked will remain in the draw. We will contact the team drawn to…

Bring on 2020!

Here we are at the end of the decade, and excited for what is to come! Since our inception in July 2016 we have continued to follow our original vision of producing delicious lagers and Belgian style ales. Our flagship beer, Keller Pils epitomises what we are about: understated simplicity. It certainly has been difficult at times, but we’ve now seen the light, and it’s getting brighter all the time! If anyone caught Co-Founder Alex talking at one of the fabulous Brewers Lectures last year, he spoke of how to weather the storm with a flagship lager! Perseverance or perhaps stubbornness, but here we are! The year 2019 has been amazing with some fantastic achievements. In April we launched Keller…

Happy 3rd Birthday to Lost and Grounded Brewers!

Today marks three years since we first started brewing in our big white shed on Whitby Road, Bristol. The first brew was of course Keller Pils, our understated flagship, which now comprises the majority of our sales and enjoys distribution across the UK and further afield – we’re constantly thrilled at the reception this amazing little beer is receiving by drinkers!   Some amazing facts and figures from our first three years: 469 brews, with two brews being dumped due to quality. Lowest sales week ever – 317 pints. You can only imagine the sheer feeling of dread when you have a brewery in a massive shed and that’s all you’ve sold… my word, very humbling to say the least!…

The heart of our brewery: a 7HL lactic acid tank

After 18 months of planning, staring at spreadsheets and pacing the halls, our new brewhouse is installed and is ready for commissioning – what a relief at last! When we dreamt up Lost and Grounded Brewers, we knew we wanted something special about how we made beer to drive our attention to detail.  In the past I worked in a brewery that bottle conditioned large volumes of pale ale, and that drove our attention to detail and from that time I always felt that a brewery works best if they know what makes them unique.  As previously stated, we haven’t established the brewery to recreate our past efforts, and knew for sure we wanted to test ourselves technically so that…

Defining our vision: it’s all about the big picture.

It has been ages since the last blog and plenty has been going on behind the scenes: we are now in our site (91 Whitby Road, BS4 4AR), fit-out is underway, our equipment is due to arrive next week, the team has started, and we even got a little delivery van to ferry some kegs around come August. Everything we are doing, we are doing with the big picture in mind.  From assembling a team that shares our values, to installing a brewery that can help us deliver excellent quality, right through to securing a site that is big enough to expand if required.  The big picture even translates to our branding: As brewing is almost upon us, the beers that we will produce are…
